Telemedicine at IVI: The future is already present

Since last April 27, we began to schedule treatments in the IVI clinics. But throughout the weeks of confinement we have been answering your queries and doubts electronically. And all this has been, and is possible, due to IVI’s commitment to the use of new technologies applied to medicine. We wanted the Dr. Eduardo Goyri de IVI Madrid, explain to us in this post, what it is and how we apply telemedicine in IVI clinics.

In IVI we will always be by your side. In certain circumstances, such as the current ones, there are issues that become more important.
The telemedicine It is one of them. Unfortunately, the reason why we now need more of these types of resources is due to the serious situation in which we find ourselves with Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
First of all, I hope that you are passing these moments in the best possible way within the difficulties that we may be subjected to, such as loss of family, loved ones or personal illness.
And it is in this time of confinement and social isolation that we must comply with orders from the authorities to avoid the increase in infections, but it is also when we have technological tools that help us continue to offer our patients close care despite the physical distance.
At IVI clinics we are convinced of how important it is to adjust to the needs and preferences of each of the patients and couples who think of us.
Some years ago we already provided communication tools that lead us to be more connected, we did so because we knew that it was essential to satisfy the requirements of a digital generation that needs immediate information exchange.
The Internet has undergone one of the biggest changes for medicine in the last 20 years; for reproduction and infertility problems It has brought great repercussions for the way we take care of our patients.
The large amount of information available in search engines and social networks makes it necessary for us to offer better and more complete information about our assisted reproductive treatments, from the simplest such as artificial insemination even the most complex ones like in vitro fertilization, preimplantation genetic diagnosis or egg donation.
We set ourselves these challenges to meet the preferences and needs of patients, because we were convinced at that time that social, technological and cultural changes were going to require on our part a change of paradigm in terms of the way in which we share the information, while respecting the strictest confidentiality and privacy standards that were being implemented in Europe.
Telemedicine at IVI
The first of our tools is a complete face-to-face and distance communication system that has interactive 3D images, easily understandable statistics, explanations of fertility treatments and procedures used by the doctor in consultation. This system is carried out through video call or video conference with easy-to-use and highly effective platforms to share images and explanations in real time as if we were in a face-to-face consultation. In other words, you have the consultation with your doctor at home or office through your computer or mobile phone as if you were there.
We have an innovative patient portal, designed exclusively for IVI and connected with our digital medical records system that the patient can have at any time in an application in the mobile or tablet.
Depending on the preferences, we are able to share the information that we have offered in the consultation, the patient has at all times the most relevant information about her case, such as images, explanations, videos, medication instructions, among others.
In times of the coronavirus pandemic, the most complicated health, economic and social difficulty of our era on a global level, we have the obligation to stay at home.
Staying close to you with tools such as the patient portal and the face-to-face and distance education system that we have been studying, developing and improving for years, allows us not improvise and safely provide alternatives to continue giving our support at all times.
Our telemedicine system it was not created for a situation as complex as the one we live in today. We always think about innovating and creating for him benefit of our patients. However, now it has become a necessity. We are prepared to offer the best quality of visits and explanations through our tools. And when we begin to get out of the great difficulty, when we return to our treatments, we will also remain connected so that the most important thing, you, our patients, have all the information and guidance you need.
