In a few days the tenth edition of the International IVIRMA Congress will be held. A benchmark congress in the field of assisted reproduction, which brings together the most important researchers in the sector in each edition. In this 2023, once the health crisis is over, we return to face-to-face, with the city of Malaga as the venue.
A benchmark forum in the sector
This Thursday, April 20, we will start the program organized for this tenth edition of the IVIRMA Congress, with an andrology workshop. Three days full of science, innovation and research, with endless talks, debates and other organized activities. This international assisted reproduction congress, organized by IVIRMA Global, takes place biennially. In this edition we return to the face-to-face format, after in 2021 it had to be done online for security reasons. On this occasion, Malaga and its Palacio de Congresos will host this forum, one of the most important in the field of reproductive medicine.
Future of reproductive medicine
More than 1,250 experts, coming from almost 60 countries, to enjoy a complete scientific program with different sessions, presentations or debates, around the most relevant issues in the sector, which mark the present, but above all the future of assisted reproduction. . A program, in addition, configured with the purpose of sharing the latest developments in the sector, which has not stopped advancing in recent years with research paths such as Artificial Intelligence or Ovarian Rejuvenation. Everything, always, with the aim of being able to offer the best and most advanced techniques and treatments in our clinics, to fulfill the wishes of those women who entrust their maternity wishes to us.
The scientific program of this edition of the IVIRMA Congress, configured by sessions, will deal with topics as relevant as premature ovarian failure, adenomyosis, embryo selection, Artificial Intelligence, recurrent implantation failure or the pillars that will mark the future of reproductive medicine. . All this, moreover, carried out by researchers of international stature: Professors Antonio Pellicer, Juan Carlos Izpisua either Serdar Bulun.
In addition, said scientific program is completed with 3 debates, workshops and embryology sessions, among others.
The importance of research in Assisted Reproduction
That the IVIRMA Congress is held every two years, in addition to the annual participation of our researchers in other congresses -such as the ESHRE or the ASRM- is no coincidence. And it is that at IVI we give special importance to research in our day-to-day work. Only understanding that this is a fundamental pillar in the structure of our company is our leadership understood. At IVIRMA Global we have 7 research centers, spread all over the world, which develop 15 main lines of research. Thanks to all this work carried out by our researchers, we can continue helping thousands of women and couples, who present increasingly complex cases. So how do we achieve the highest success rates in the industry? Personalizing each treatment and process to the diagnosis of the patient and her needs.
The 10th IVIRMA Congress returns to the face-to-face format
As we said, the IVIRMA Congress has been held, since its first edition in 2005, in different cities of the Spanish geography. Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid or Seville are just some of those that have hosted this congress in any of its editions. In this 2023 Malaga is the chosen city and IVI Malaga the host clinic, with its director, Dr. Anabel Salazar, in charge. This edition is held between April 20 and 22, at the city’s Palacio de Congresos, starting the previous agenda on Thursday the 20th, with a workshop focused on male infertility and other parallel activities. On the same day, at about 1:45 p.m. we will start with the opening ceremony, which will mark the starting signal for an agenda full of activities around reproductive medicine.
An assisted reproduction congress designed based on Sustainability
As every year, our International IVIRMA Congress is designed under the vision of Sustainability, applying environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria in it and clearly betting as an assisted reproduction Congress that transversally integrates the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations. For IVIRMA Global, sustainability is a strategic axis that permeates each of the actions carried out in the company, which is why the IVIRMA Congress could not be left behind: the scientific legacy is accompanied by a social and environmental legacy through our unwavering commitment for Sustainability.
As Dr. Anabel Salazar, director of IVI Málaga and host of the 10th, explains: “This congress is a cutting-edge medical and scientific forum, where the great minds worldwide who advance this exciting field such as reproductive medicine meet. A specialty where innovation is vital, so we cannot ignore the concept of sustainability, an area that must be present in any action and event that any organization in the field of health implements. For this reason, we advocate SDG 3, “Health and Well-being”, since our congress has a clear focus on this objective”.
Within this Sustainability Plan we find 4 pillars, with the aim of protecting the environment, promoting equality and inclusion, promoting local development and serving as a lever for social action.
- Circular economy: minimize the consumption of materials, incorporating recovery, reuse and recycling criteria
- Climate change: the 10th IVIRMA Congress aims to be neutral in greenhouse gas emissions, by optimizing the use of energy, the consumption of energy from renewable sources and the compensation of GHG emissions emitted
- People: we pursue, during the congress, the incorporation of social criteria and the promotion of accessibility, in order to carry out a congress without physical barriers and the creation of a social legacy by donating to a local association
- Natural resources and local production: the objective will be to prioritize local products and minimize food waste and associated residues
In short, as Anabel Salazar explains: “Through this sustainability plan, the 10th International IVIRMA Congress intends to leave a social and environmental legacy, as well as a scientific one, in Malaga, as well as serve as a boost for Sustainability within the Reproductive Medicine sector”.
