For almost 30 years, we have helped many women fulfill their dream of starting a family. Women eager to share their love, their illusion, their strength even before starting a treatment … from the moment they decide to be mothers, from the moment they make the best decision.
Throughout these years we have been an exceptional witness of how the concept of family has changed, spread and, above all, is increasingly normalized. Every day we are privileged to know stories of exceptional women, brave, free to decide and that when they decide to be mothers, nothing stops them.
Today we have taken another step with a nod to those women who face motherhood without a partner. Under the title ‘The best decision’, we have presented our practical guide to single parent families, with the aim of offering information and making visible to all women who consider fulfilling their dreams and starting a family. A guide by and for them, from our experience and knowledge, to make this process a little easier.
We know that despite being a decision based on conviction, there are many doubts that can arise when a woman considers being a mother without a partner. Questions about the possible donor are common, it is also a concern to be well informed about the treatments, and to be clear about the current legislation so that from the beginning they can have all the information available or how to face the moment of disclosure of origins.
In addition, “The best decision” aims to be a meeting point where women can tell their own experience in the first person. The guide has testimonies from women who have lived this wonderful experience on their own skin, as well as the experience of children, like Lola, who has grown up in a single-parent family, among other information.
What are single mothers by choice like?
Within the diversity of each case, that each woman has her own experiences and motivation, different studies carried out on this profile of women establish common traits for all of them: their self-esteem and high life satisfaction in general stand out; at the socioeconomic level, they have achieved autonomy in the labor and financial sphere and, especially, a safe psychological profile stands out. According to the data of the women who attend the IVI clinic, the majority are women who make this decision when they are 40 years old or around them, and as professions, we find that teachers, administrative staff and nurses predominate.

Presentation of The Best Decision: Guide for Single Parent Families
And to present it, we organized a table with the testimony of 4 women who are as brave as they are representative of these families: Rosa Maestro, Eva Mª Bernal, Carolina de Dobrzynski, representative of the Single Mothers by Choice Association, the actress and model Mónica Cruz who has also faced motherhood alone, and Chole Chamorro, a psychologist at IVI Madrid. All of this presented and moderated by Nuria Roca. Throughout the debate, topics as exciting as education and the parenting model of these families came up; funny anecdotes; challenges and demands of these women and these families. But if something was clear, it is that we are facing brave and revolutionary women, who are changing society and the perception of women and who undoubtedly took … The best decision.
