We’ve all heard of anxiety so far. There are many reasons why anxiety, which is seen as a 21st century disease, is so common. Anxiety is generally defined as a feeling of fear and anxiety. While anxiety is a normal emotion like love and fear, anxiety disorder is a disease. Anxiety disorder; It is a state of constant anxiety.

Anxiety can have many different causes. These reasons may also be hormonal, may be caused by the deficiency of certain vitamins, or may occur as a result of physical diseases. Other reasons that cause anxiety are as follows:

Post-traumatic anxiety can be experienced after individual and social traumas.

What is Social Trauma?

  • It may cause you to cry constantly.
  • You can get confused and forgetful.
  • You may experience loss of appetite, sleep problems, focus problems. (IBU)

What Are the Symptoms of Anxiety?

Anxiety can give many different physical and psychological symptoms. Some of the physical symptoms are; dizziness, heart palpitations, sweating, tremors, shortness of breath, weakness and tension. Psychological symptoms are: anxiety, anxiety, worst thinking, nervousness, restlessness, and skepticism.

Anxiety; It is defined as a state of alertness. It is quite common among people living with anxiety to feel constantly alert, to focus on the bad widely, and to think that bad things will happen constantly.

One of the most important features of anxiety is that uncertainty is a trigger. Anxiety and fear are separated here. Fear is an emotion that results from a specific cause; It’s like being afraid of the car coming towards us while crossing the road. But anxiety can occur without a specific source.

Anxiety and the 21st Century

As I mentioned above, anxiety is seen as a disease of the 21st century. Turkey also quite common to say that the cause of anxiety is so common that it is socially experienced trauma can not be wrong. The reason why anxiety is so intense in women and LGBTI + people may be social trauma. In addition, the pandemic process experienced in 2020 has also caused an increase in anxiety diagnoses. Extraordinary situations such as a pandemic can bring along a social trauma.

What can we do?

If you think you are living with anxiety, or if you think that someone you know has this disease, the first thing you should do should be to consult a psychologist. You should be careful not to diagnose yourself. Anxiety, like many other diseases, can be solved with the right treatment.

So What Can You Do By Yourself?

The most important thing to consider is to take care of your personal care. Self-care is something that every person should do and devote time to.

  • Doing breathing exercises. (Like the 4–4–8 technique)
  • To meditate,
  • Do yoga,
  • Sport,
  • Paying attention to nutrition,
  • To acquire a hobby, to produce to express yourself

It can strengthen your struggle with anxiety.

Remember that you are not alone. You have the right to feel everything you feel, and what you go through is not your fault!
