In recent times we are living in our country an increase in the age of maternity. Proof of this is the average 38 years of our patients. And 53% of the women who attend IVI are 40 years or older. As you know, age is a factor that works against female fertility. On the one hand, with a lower oocyte quality, which increases the possibility of generating embryos with aneuploidies. On the other hand, there are also fewer oocytes, with the disadvantage of having a lower ovarian response capacity. All this leads these women to turn to reproductive medicine in order to fulfill their desire to be mothers.
Why create an Ovarian Rejuvenation Center of Excellence?
Faced with this harsh reality that most of our patients face, our latest research has led us to be able to offer the most innovative Ovarian Rejuvenation techniques. What is IVI Regenera Ovary
As we have already told you on other occasions, we have recently developed the innovative IVI Regenera technique. Intended for the treatment of cases of premature ovarian failure and low ovarian reserve, as well as refractory endometria.
As we recently told you about IVI Regenera Endo, we want to take this opportunity to tell you about IVI Regenera Ovario. It is one more step in this technique for ovarian rejuvenation that, as we have said, will only be carried out at the IVI Alicante Center of Excellence.
Based on the same autologous process – biological material of the patient herself – and on the principles of regenerative medicine. Thus, what we seek is to restore the ‘biological environment’, imitating and accelerating the regeneration processes carried out by the organism itself.
IVI Regenera Ovario is a treatment alternative to restore ovarian function. Through the injection of plasma enriched with growth factors, in each ovary. It includes the most innovative techniques dedicated to Ovarian Rejuvenation, with which to treat more and more patients.
All about ASCOT-1
The ASCOT-1 technique is an evolution of a technique designed and developed by IVI, consisting of stem cell therapy. Thanks to this method, significant advances have been made in regenerative medicine in the last 10 years.
The most important characteristic of stem cells is their ability to develop into other cell types. And in other tissues they can act as a kind of internal repairman, thanks to their constant division to replace cells that disappear. Based on this, at IVI we have developed this technique for the treatment of infertility. In those cases of ovarian failure, with the appropriate biological stimulus, the stem cells will be able to develop ovarian functions. This, together with the injection of plasma enriched with growth factors, allows the restoration of the physiological processes that are part of follicular recruitment, recovering ovarian function.
What is the OFFA ovarian reactivation technique
The ovarian reserve of women has an impact on the primordial or sleeping follicles. These are small follicles that remain stored in the ovary when it develops. They form the main base of the ovarian reserve, with which every month 1,000 of these follicles are activated and develop, complying with all the phases of follicular development. But, in the end, only one makes it to the end and the rest disappear.
What we do with the OFFA technique is to reactivate the follicles, make them grow and develop. This is possible through obtaining a sample of the ovarian cortex, processed into different fragments that are reinserted back into the ovary.

“We have data that indicates that patients undergoing ovarian rejuvenation experience increased levels of AMH. These are associated, in turn, with the probability of obtaining more oocytes during puncture. In addition, we have observed that a single round of treatment is sufficient to see the benefits of the ovarian rejuvenation technique.
